BASIC TEXT: Psalm 24:3-6

” Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.”

KEY VERSE: Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. Revelation 4:1

SERMON

When you see the state of things around our world today and probably encounter problems for which you do not have a solution, it is good to hear the Lord saying to us, “Come up higher”. What this phrase literally means is God calls you as His beloved to “Come and see things from His standpoint and not from the low earthly level from which you have been looking at things”.

It is a clarion call from your Maker as He needs and seeks men today, who will stand before Him and hear His voice daily, believers with pure hearts and clean hands. Men who have no desire in their heart for anyone or anything other than Himself; men who have the discernment of the Spirit to distinguish between the soulish and the spiritual authority; men who will stand alone for Him in the world totally uncompromising, like the apostles and prophets of old. Paul said, “One thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”. He had heard the call to come up higher and he was not satisfied, no matter how high he had reached.

Believers in the Lord Jesus risk the danger of hero-worship, accolades and empty praises above the need to get closer to the heart of God for you to need to go up higher. God created Abraham primarily to have fellowship with Him. Adam was created on the sixth day and his very first day which was the seventh day for God was a day of rest and fellowship with his Creator. It was from that day of fellowship with God that Adam was to go out into the garden and serve God for the next six days. Therefore, when you forget that the fellowship with God must always take precedence over your going out into His vineyard to serve Him, you would have missed the primary purpose of your creation and redemption. Seek God and He will meet you and change the direction of your life. God gives grace to the humble. Anybody can have knowledge but it is only the humble that can receive grace. You need grace for the higher call far more than you need knowledge. May the grace be multiplied into you, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

  1. Lord, I thank You for the wisdom in Your word
  2. Father, my life is available for use, call me up thither Lord
  3. This call is demanding and tasking, Holy Ghost take over me and use me for the glory of God
  4. According to Psalm 73:25, Father, You alone I have in heaven and on earth and You alone I desire above everything else
