Text: 1Kings 3:3-15

Although the Bible declared that we are more than conquerors, there are prerequisites everyone must meet in order to become a conqueror. It has also been warned that you must not take these prerequisites for granted. The love for God must be shared abroad and extending to a fellow human, but more importantly is your ability to love Him with all your heart, mind and soul which is the greatest of all commandments.

Loving God is an essential aspect that must be given priority in your spiritual race and be determined by your level of commitment and dedication to His service in the kingdom. Your love for God must come before the subject of personal purpose becomes paramount. Truly, God has given you a purpose to fulfill your life but your love for Him precedes this. You must never allow your love for wealth, materialism, fellow man supersede your love for God in order not to encounter hindrances to your spiritual success. The biblical injunction admonishes that you love your neighbor and others as yourself but not above God.

Remember, God is a jealous and possessive God, whenever anything at all is placed above Him, He becomes jealous and that possess danger to you. He has possessed you as His bride and will in no way share His position in your life with anybody, therefore be careful with your love-priority. It is the love you have for Him that enables you to love others and when He is positioned as the number one in your life, your task becomes easier as things will begin to fall into beautiful places for you.

Again, as you continue your pursuit of purpose, God watches you per time to affirm if your love for Him is complete and genuine in order to ensure your safety, success, protection and peace because He is Jehovah-Rohi. Do you love the creatures more than the Creator; do you love your husband, wife, children and parents more than you love God? Child of God, it does not matter how hard you pray or fast, things will always fall out of balance in your candid pursuit of life if your love for God is secondary and not placed in proper perspective. This is the reason He checkmates you per time to see if you have drifted away from Him. It is your love for God that sustains your purpose and for it to find expression on earth which is the reason He urges you to abide in Him and He in you, John 15:4-6.

The testimonies and attainment of my relation and family member from the other religious background who accepted the Lord in his early years and had committed and dedicated his entire life to His service is thrilling. Without Him you cannot attain any height nor fulfill any purpose on your own, “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing;  and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked, Revelation 3:17.
The profit of your purposed-life is imbedded in your love-walk with God. The Songwriter said “When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His Love, what a glory He sheds on our way”. Truly, there is no other way you can be genuinely happy outside Christ. Outside Him, you are empty and miserable. Although, you could fake it and then be neither here nor there but Revelation 3:15-16 warns “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:  I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth”.

You must know and understand that your passion for God will determine the degree of your profit for your pursuit of life’s purpose, 1Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him”. Note here that it is conditional that what God has in store is only for those who love Him.

If you are not passionate about the things of God and His house but substitutes it with personal purpose, you would be tilting down the slope. For David, he was always glad when it was time for fellowship in God’s house that his major focus and the desire he longed for and seek after was to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, Psalms 122:1, 27:4. You begin to sink when your love for God drifts away, today, retrace your steps back to Him and like Solomon, take the stock of your life and be grateful for all the Lord has done and will do in your life
